A quick check before rides and a little regular care prevent most problems.
Before each ride: ABC
- Air: tires firm and at the pressure printed on the sidewall
- Brakes: both work and stop you firmly
- Chain: clean, lubricated and runs smoothly
Regularly
- Wipe and lube the chain every few weeks
- Check brake pads for wear
- Check that quick releases and bolts are tight
- Get a tune-up at a shop once a year
