Choose and fit a helmet

Two fingers, a V and one finger.

4 min read

A helmet only protects you if it fits well and sits in the right place.

Fit check

  • Choose a helmet with a CPSC certification label
  • Wear it level, about two fingers' width above your eyebrows
  • Side straps form a V just below each ear
  • Buckle snug: about one finger fits under the chin strap
  • Replace it after any crash, even if it looks fine

The NHTSA and CPSC recommend wearing a properly fitted bike helmet on every ride. Sunny Birch Daily isn't paid by any bike brand or shop.
